This July was filled with friendship, baking upon baking, and living freely in the day to day.

my favorite things

MLE hairclip

I have loved this brand from the second I saw it, and have been a huge fan ever since. I am so proud to now represent them and their entire message as a “Gentlewomen Ambassador”. This means that I have a special code to offer a 10% off discount to any purchase, and I create visual content for their brand. As this is what I aspire to use my platform and creativity for, I am so happy to start this journey.

This clip is so well made, and honestly goes with any outfit. Though they come in three colors and two sizes, I opted for the large size in cream. A subtle statement, this piece adds a drop of elegance.

AWAY luggage

I finally got to use my Away luggage when I went to Tybee Island in June, and again this month when I visited my mom’s best friend for the weekend. It is the perfect luggage for a weekend getaway, or even a weeklong trip if you pack accordingly. I am able to fit so much inside, and in an orderly fashion (and I like to pack a lot of options when I travel, so that’s definitely saying something). Not to mention how sleek, smart and simple the design is— I feel so chic using this.

Glossier beauty products

I have been wanting to try this brand since I heard about it a few years ago. They even had a pop-up shop in Boston and even though I visited, I didn’t buy anything as I usually only buy makeup products when I need them, and rely on my tried & true products because I have sensitive skin. Finally during quarantine, I gave in and bought two products.

I was in need of a new eyebrow gel, so of course I went with boy brow and then paired it with a bright red lipstick in zip, perfect for Summer. I was skeptical to believe the hype about this brand, but was immediately proven wrong. I use these products every day now, and not only do they make me feel confident, but I feel classy and natural as well.

FLUX by Orion Carloto

This is my favorite poetry book of all time. It seems as though Orion has experienced life in the same way as me, and written about it so beautifully. As a poetry writer, and hopefully soon, author, I am inspired by her words and artistic representation of life on the daily. This is on constant repeat this summer, and the words on these pages never get old.

Lush perfume

Lush has everything to do with wonderful scents, but this one in particular is the scent of my Summer. A warm, light, and airy vanilla, this perfume is just too good.

Mejuri gold pieces

Again, a dream company of mine. These pieces are part of my everyday and have literally become a part of how people recognize me. Always adorned in gold jewelry, Mejuri pieces have morphed themselves into every outfit of mine and I can’t wait to buy more soon.

recipes

When I say I have been baking a lot…it’s an understatement. It used to be only on Fridays that I would whip out the flour and sugar but now it seems like whenever I have free time or something to work out in my head, baking is the solution. It gives me time to slow down, concentrate, and think through anything going on in my life.

home life

staying safe in my space

Home life has definitely been interesting this Summer. Things have gotten a bit more lively as I’ve started seeing a select few of my friends who are also determined to stay safe during the pandemic. This Summer as a whole is more about precaution than anything. However, I’ve tried to keep my room as my safe space, and make it where I feel inspired and motivated by filling it with everything I love.

the pup

I sure am going to miss this little one once I head back to school in a week. I’m so thankful to have this time at home to bond with Olive and keep each other company. During the thick of quarantine, our daily walks became a necessity for us both to get out and into the fresh air. I’ll always look back at that time and know we had each other through it all.

treasures from papa

I’ve had this antique mirror for about a year now, and always get compliments on it from others. It is one of the many little treasure I get from my papa on a regular basis. Recently, as my grandparents are moving and packing up everything they’ve acquired in their home over the past 50 years; more and more little goodies are being passed down to me. The newest of these are two gold art plates that are detailed and as beautiful as ever. I cannot wait to bring them to school and style my space with them as a little daily reminder of my grandparents.

day to day adventures

I have my friends to thank for most of the happiness and memories that have come out of this Summer. We’ve been creative and tried to make our time meaningful and I owe them all the world.

travel

Pemaquid Point, ME

I had the opportunity to travel to an area of Maine I’ve never seen before to visit my mom’s best friend in a home she rented, and it was all so magical and beautiful. We checked every experience off our to-do list and had piña colada dance parties fueled by Taylor Swift and post dinner energy. It was such a great getaway and something I’ll remember forever.

…so that was my July —full of all the sweetness and sour that Summer brings. Now, it’s on to an August like no other, as I return to University and try this pandemic life on my own.
