Acadia 2019
This July, I & a few of my favorite people packed our bags and headed to Acadia National Park for a weekend.
Here is what we did, where we stayed, and all the photos to remember.
Day 1
Our first day was all about the travel, getting set up & relaxing. After we unpacked and got settled in, we relaxed by the dock and took a dip in the pool at our campground. These hours were filled with so much peace and joy that warms my heart looking back on it. When I think of Summer, I am constantly reminded of these few moments where everything feels easy under the sun. After a few hours, a huge storm hit our campground and we decided to relax inside our tent and play games. It was so nice to just BE, not be checking our phones, worrying about deadlines, or anything else in the world except for what was inside our little tent.
Day 2
Day two for us was filled with hiking, sunburns, and hot dogs. We started our morning with a very interesting breakfast cooked by Olivia and I, which i’m not sure if it tasted better than it looked or looked better than it tasted… but nevertheless it was a breakfast that got us fueled for our hike! We climbed up the Beehive trail which is a very engaging hike, then made our way down the Bowl trail, up the Gorham trail, and then back down the Bowl trail again. It was tons of fun hiking as a group, and made the trails seem much shorter and entertaining! We then headed back to our site for some swimming, cooked some hot dogs over the fire, and relaxed for a bit. After some time, we got ready to go sunset hunting on the top of Cadillac. Unfortunately we arrived too late and the road to the summit was closed, but we did find a new and equally beautiful spot on the edge of the mountain. We then head back to our site for some s’mores, games and laughter.
Day 3
On day three, we woke up and had an awesome (first) breakfast cooked by Zach and I which consisted of eggs and bacon. Then, we packed up, got freshened up, and headed into Bar Harbor for the day. We made our first pit stop for some (second) breakfast at the “Great Maine Breakfast” diner which had amazing homestyle breakfast. It felt so good to eat real cooked food rather than trail mix and hot dogs! After that we walked around, got some souvenirs, and had a peaceful day before hitting the road home. Our second pit stop was at the Penobscot Narrows Observatory where we got an awesome 360 degree view of the mountains. It was so beautiful and the perfect way to cap off our mini vacation.
Thank you all for a short & sweet trip, can’t wait for our next one…AKA
